What does a Welte Licensee roll look like?

The US American Welte-Licensee reels are similar to the Duo-Art and Ampico sheet music reels. After the expropriation during World War I, the American Welte stores were sold in the USA and continued there under their own management as Welte Licensee. Thus there are numerous recordings from the former Welte repertoire as well as many additional titles that never existed for the German Welte system. Although Welte patents were used here, the perforation structure is different, so that these reels do not work on the Welte green system despite the same width. The Welte-Licensee reels have a floral decoration at the beginning of the reel on light brownish paper in the middle of which the tempo, reel number, title and artist as well as often the reel price are indicated. The boxes are mostly black with the DeLuxe emblem on the front of the box. The sides of the music rolls are designed in black like the 88 rolls made of bakelite. For hanging up in the reel there is a round eyelet at the beginning of the reel. The Welte-Licensee reels are available in large numbers in America as well-preserved originals. The paper is 28.6 cm wide.

The Welte Licensee grand pianos also have a drawer system - like the Ampico system. Mostly installed in mid-range brands. The best piano brands have already been contracted or involved with Ampico and Aeolian.
