Neue Notenrollen

How does a Welte T98 (green) roll look like?

Music rolls for the Welte-Mignon T98 system produced from 1924 onwards are usually called "Welte green" rolls, as the paper used was usually a striking green colour. The red or wine-red music roll boxes have a label on the front with the name Welte-Mignon, the roll number, the title and the name of the pianist. The same label can also be found on the music roll - as the roll runs from top to bottom, the label is normally legible when the roll is inserted. The date of manufacture is also indicated on some rolls. Some rolls are also labelled with typewriter labels only. There is a hook or a round eyelet at the start of the roll to hang it on the take-up reel. The dimensions of this roll format correspond to the standard 88 format. The paper is 28.6 cm wide.
