Neue Notenrollen

What does a Popper Stella roll look like?

Hugo Popper launched the Stella reproducing piano in 1908 and advertised his own recording apparatus and exquisite repertoire. In fact, the Popper Stella system seems to have been sold only very rarely - today hardly a handful of instruments and very few music rolls exist. We are always on the lookout for Popper Stella rolls and pads. Visually there is a great similarity to Welte red rolls. We are currently analysing the scale as part of a restoration project. Details will follow. The paper is 35.0 cm wide.
