When Ludwig Hupfeld took over the Grub company in 1892, these piano players became the first Hupfeld products alongside the electric pianos with paper rolls and a piano player. These early forerunners of the famous Hupfeld phonola with paper music rolls (from 1902) are extremely rare. This piano player plays 36 notes using a hand crank. The instrument is being restored and is then destined for a private museum.
