This Steinway & Sons concert grand piano is exceptionally rare, as it dates from the early heyday of this manufacturer. In 1878 there was still no factory in Germany - so it was an absolute rarity to obtain such a concert grand piano from the New York production in Europe. This grand piano already has all the technical innovations and patents that made Steinway & Sons world-famous. Visually, the grand piano still resembles the earlier Steinway concert grand pianos - technically, however, it is a completely different instrument. On November 5, 1879, the grand piano was delivered to the Steinway agency in Hamburg. This grand piano was completely technically renovated by an experienced Steinway master piano maker. The shellac surface has been re-polished and looks stunning. This grand piano is now an absolute gem again.
