RESERVED. This Steinway & Sons concert grand is exceptionally rare, as it dates from the early heyday of this manufacturer. In 1878 there was no factory in Germany - therefore it was an absolute rarity to get such a concert grand piano from the New York production in Europe. This grand piano already has all the technical innovations and patents that made Steinway & Sons world famous. Visually, the piano still resembles the earlier Steinweg concert grand pianos - technically, however, it is a completely different instrument. On November 5, 1879, the grand piano was delivered to the Steinway agency in Hamburg. This grand piano was completely technically renovated by a Steinway experienced master piano maker. The shellac surface has been newly polished over the past months and looks stunning. After completion, this grand piano is now once again an absolute gem.
