If you are interested in music rolls - especially the artist and reproduction rolls - it is worth reading books that look at the conception, performance technique and above all the idiosyncrasies of the great pianists of the time. This book Piano Mastery by Harriette Brower gives details of the various great pianists around 1900 in short passages that help us to enjoy the surviving music roll recordings in a different way.
