DUCA DANCING ROLLS

Another curious detail of Philipp's role recordings is shown on this page from the DUCA sheet music directory. From 10.07.1911 the recordings for dance music were kept separately. Since Philipps had meanwhile arrived at No 783 for the classical repertoire, one had to decide with which number pad to start with for the dance music. Here, No 3000 was chosen first - probably in the assumption that this would leave enough reserve. This was then raised to 5000 numbers already on 31.10.1911 - and corrected for the first 3000 numbers. In retrospect the 3000 would have been sufficient - but this could not have been foreseen at that time.
