This is a rare Philipps Pianella player piano in a tall cabinet, featuring mandolin and xylophone registers, dating from around 1925. It still retains its magnificent original candle sconces. The instrument was originally delivered by a piano dealer in Barcelona. It uses a different roll format than standard Pianella models, with the roll traveling from bottom to top. We are able to convert Pianella music rolls to this format. The instrument requires a complete restoration. The bellows unit in the lower interior was replaced by a previous owner with a vacuum cleaner motor; however, we still have the original components from another Philipps instrument, which can be reinstalled during the restoration process. Woodworm infestation occurred a long time ago, but the structural condition appears to be sound.
