The Rönisch house brand combined with the Phonola was Hupfeld’s most successful self-playing piano, produced in Leipzig. This instrument is one of the last remaining Phonola Model 73 examples. Overall, it is in very fine original condition, even retaining its original candle holders. The acoustic piano itself is well preserved, showing only minor age-related wear, and is still pleasant to play. The Hupfeld Phonola mechanism requires restoration. Woodworm infestation occurred decades ago and has left holes in the base of the instrument.
