A fortepiano by Matthäus Andreas Stein from around 1820-1825. Walter, Streicher, Stein - the great names of this piano-making episode around Mozart, Beethoven and other great masters are jewels in important collections. Instruments by André Stein are extremely rare. This six-octave fortepiano is similar to the famous Clara Schumann fortepiano. It is in need of a complete restoration. It was apparently shortened as early as the 19th century. In the course of the restoration, a decision must be made as to whether it should be restored to its original length. For the restoration, we can use a very similar instrument to take measurements true to the original. On this website of the Claviersalon you will find a lot of information about the Stein family of piano makers. Internetseite des Claviersalon finden sich viele Informationen zur Klavierbauerfamilie Stein.
