In addition to a good piano, the most important thing for long-lasting playing pleasure is a comfortable and functional seat. Piano teachers and physiotherapists can give valuable tips here. Many famous pianists had very strange seating furniture beyond all reason, most notably Glenn Gould with his beloved little chair.
Some have two seats for the piano. A visual highlight and a comfortable favourite. Seating comfort, adjustability, durability and purpose are important.
Only very rarely and at the explicit request of the customer were piano stools or benches supplied in the decor of the instrument. Even then, most seats were ordered from specialised dealers.
In our experience, a wider, adjustable bench for two people is definitely worthwhile to encourage joint music-making. We do not recommend stools for small children, as they are too easy to tip over and can cause injury. This applies in particular to the older three-legged stools.
A concert grand piano bench is suitable for professionals and frequent players - these are generally more stable, with a larger seat, better padding and more comfortable height adjustment.
We also offer customised benches in the same design as our unique instruments, which combine looks and comfort. If you are interested, please take a look at our range of piano stools here.
