Which piano is the right one for me?

After decades of dealing with pianos and searching for people, we have come to the conclusion that the right choice of piano is mostly an emotional decision. Of course, rational aspects are also essential - but we experience again and again how the much-cited spark ignites and the choice of a particular instrument is made. Therefore we can only recommend to search, discover and find in such a way that a really good decision develops.

Nevertheless, some specific questions need to be examined in order to focus the search and selection. In the trial and error process the view becomes clearer and clearer. So, upright or grand piano, baby grand or concert grand, acoustic piano, digital piano, USB/Midi keyboard on the PC? Used or new? Which brand, which manufacturer? Buy, finance or rent? Which sound? Which price range? What quality is hidden behind the many brand names that also sound German?

These questions may help to provide initial orientation.

- Who wants to play the piano mainly - and how?

- Is the instrument used for piano lessons?

- How important is quality in the instrument? Sound? Playing feel? Valuableness and value? History? Size? condition? brand? purchase price? follow-up costs? mobility?

- What is the sound you like best?

- What budget can be invested?

- What follow-up costs are acceptable?

- Where will the piano be located and what is the indoor climate?

- Do you plan to move more often?

It is highly recommended to look at many different instruments and try them out. Even if no instrument is exactly the same as another, preferences can be identified. Often the exclusion procedure also helps. Getting expert advice is also useful. The condition of the instrument as well as the quality of the elaboration and adaptation to individual and spatial characteristics (intonation and regulation) are very decisive for the sound and playing behaviour. An instrument of choice becomes the instrument of your dreams only when it has been worked out according to your individual wishes.

In the end, the path to the dream instrument often leads over almost dream instruments. And it is worth it. Some of our customers have two or more pianos, because all dreams cannot be combined in one instrument.
