Here is an example of the renovation of one of the then very popular Hupfeld Phonola Vorsetzer. Many tens of thousands were built - of which only a few can be found today. This Vorsetzer is a late design - the so-called Meisterspielvorsetzer with split windchest, solodant and piano and pedal function.

The Vorsetzer was in good condition with normal age damage - however, the self-playing function was no longer given, as all materials had become permeable to air due to ageing. In the course of the renovation, the entire system was disassembled, cleaned, all defective parts replaced, all bellows newly covered with leather and much more. - In addition, the surface was repolished. This is how it must have looked when it was sold again around 1915. Today, a music-loving Munich musician makes music with this chair.
