We have restored this well-preserved Blüthner Aliquot concert grand (Model 2) to its original splendor. Although Blüthner was still using mainly the Blüthner patent action at the time of its creation (1908), this grand piano - like most concert grands from this period - has a "modern" Blüthner Erard double-repeating action.
Obviously the grand piano was always in well-kept private ownership - hence the well-preserved overall condition. However, due to the ageing of the strings, the felts and the soundboard alone, as well as normal use, the piano had lost so much of its potential that renovation was recommended. Also, since the piano had recently been improperly overhauled (wrong hammer heads, incorrectly regulated action etc.), only a renovation could help.
